EXCLUSIVE: “You’re f*cking shit!” – 50 Cent reminisces on ‘advice’ given by Oscar-nominated Irish director

Rory Cashin

We imagine not everyone would have the nerve to talk that kind of smack to 50 Cent.

While JOE was lucky enough to head to Manhattan to chat to the stars of Den Of Thieves, we did get an opportunity to talk to 50 Cent about the time he worked with Oscar-nominated Irish director Jim Sheridan.

Sheridan has been nominated for no less than six Oscars in his career so far, and was the man behind the likes of My Left Foot, The Field, In The Name Of The Father, The Boxer and In America.

Sheridan was also the director loosely-based-on-real-life 50 Cent biopic Get Rich Or Die Tryin’, so we had to ask if the director passed on any advice to 50 so early in his acting career:

“There was a lot of aggression. He just yelled at me. He told me ‘You’re fucking shit! People want this to be shit! You fucking get this right, 50!'”

He then bursts into laughter, remembering the situation. “He just came at me, and I’m like this (50 pretends to be scared stiff), and he’s short… but he’s big.”

We remind 50 Cent that is just part of the Irish mentality, that we shout but we love you deep down, at which point Gerard Butler chimes in: “He’s a great man, Jim Sheridan. You must’ve had a blast.”

50’s eyes have a little glint to them: “Yeah.” And he bursts out laughing again.

You can check out 50 Cent’s answer on the link below (the conversation about Sheridan kicks off around the 15:35 mark…):

In case you’ve missed them, our full breakdown of our chats with Gerard Butler and 50 Cent, as well as their Den Of Thieves co-stars Pablo Schreiber and O’Shea Jackson Jr, are up on site.

Den Of Thieves is in cinemas right now, and you can check out the trailer to the action-thriller below:
