Movies on TV

Plenty for the Sylvester Stallone fans.

It’s Monday, so we’re back on the grind.

In many cases, the grind means working from home – which is the same place that you were legally obligated to spend your weekend, so… I don’t know… who can tell what’s what anymore anyway?

But thankfully, the movie tap has been left on, and there are plenty of decent options on the box tonight. We’ve sifted out some of the best ones for your daily movies on TV selection.

Hanna – TG4 – 9pm

A 17-year-old Saoirse Ronan plays one of the deadliest assassins in the world. Not one of her one million Oscar-nominated roles but still exciting stuff.

Public Enemies – TG4 – 9.30pm

Johnny Depp stars as the legendary bank robber John Dillinger. Lots of fun 1920s and 1930s visuals, plenty of gunfire, Marion Cotillard. Worth the watch.

Rocky – ITV4 – 10pm

Just sing the Rocky theme to yourself please, it’s too hard to type it all out. The original. Rocky vs Apollo.

The Expendables – Channel 5 – 10pm

The supergroup of muscly henchmen are called upon to do muscly things. It stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Steve Austin and Mickey Rourke. Basically you can get the crap kicked out of you just by watching this film.

30 Days of Night – SyFy – 11pm

A horde of vampires finds the perfect hunting ground – a town in Alaska that remains sunless for a month. Definitely an appropriate sense of doom for a time like this.

The Evil Dead – Horror Channel – 11.10pm

One of the craziest, funniest, goriest, wackiest horror movies ever made. Considered a cult classic. Everybody should watch at least once.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
