Movies on TV

Did you see outside? Grim. Better off just sitting in tonight.

Yep, there is a nationwide weather warning in effect, so… yeah, enjoying a movie might be the best tactic for your Saturday.

You could head to the cinema and check out one of the new releases (our full reviews right here), or you could stay on the couch and enjoy one or more of these instead:

SATURDAY 26 JANUARY

The Mummy – ITV2 – 6.45pm

Rachel Weisz and Brendan Fraser team up to battle some CGI sand in this very entertaining old school actioner.

Edward Scissorhands – E4 – 7.00pm

Back when both Johnny Depp and director Tim Burton were still liked by most people, this uniquely quirky romance showed what they were both capable of when they were at the very top of their game.

Casino Royale – ITV2 – 9.00pm

Daniel Craig’s first outing as Bond is arguably his best, taking up Bourne’s challenge for realistic, gritty action, and matching it some incredible set-pieces and a truly memorable villain.

Before I Go To Sleep – FilmFour – 9.00pm

Nicole Kidman is suffering from short-term memory loss following a vicious attack, but she begins to question the motives of both her husband Colin Firth and her therapist Mark Strong, who both seem to know more than they’re letting on.

Chappie – RTE Two – 9.20pm

An absolutely bonkers sci-fi action movie, with the director of District 9 essentially remaking Robocop, but set in South Africa, with Hugh Jackman, Sigourney Weaver, and the members of Die Antwoord all involved.

The Departed – ITV4 – 10.00pm

Scorsese’s big Oscar winner, with DiCaprio, Damon, Nicholson, Baldwin, Farmiga, Wahlberg, and more in a game of cat-and-mouse between a cop pretending to be a gangster, and a gangster pretending to be a cop.

Kill Bill Vol.2 – Syfy – 10.00pm

The Western portion of this epic tale of revenge sees Uma Thurman’s Bride continue to slice her way through the list of folk who did her wrong.

Bros: After The Screaming Stops – BBC Two – 10.45pm

An absolutely exceptional documentary which you can read all about right here.

Fast & Furious 6 – Channel 4 – 11.05pm

The one with the endless airport runway, and when Ludacris says “They got a tank!” One of the good ones, basically.
