A tiny detail in the latest Peaky Blinders footage hints at a huge problem for the Shelby gang

Peaky Blinders Season 5

Tommy needs a plan.

In the morally grey world of Peaky Blinders where every character has blood on their ‘red right hand,’ it’s very difficult to gauge who are the ‘goodies’ and ‘baddies.’ Hell, a large reason why Steven Knight’s drama is so beloved is because he understands human nature.

No person is good or bad, everyone has shades of grey and throughout the four seasons of Peaky Blinders, you could make a strong case that some characters continually float between the light and dark.

Tommy Shelby has a strict code of honour and it’s clear that he loves his family. This being said, he has also murdered people in cold blood and been a bit of a bastard to his siblings.

Elsewhere, Alfie Solomons is arguably the funniest character in the show but Tom Hardy’s beloved gangster is more than capable of mixing laughs with stone cold brutality and acts of violence. Aside from this, trusting Alfie would be like shaking hands with the devil.

Elsewhere, can you really blame Luca Changretta for seeking revenge on the Shelby gang after they killed his father?

All things considered, Small Heath is absolutely brimming with heroes and villains but with Tommy now set to move into the political world for Season 5, fans have wondered if the leader of the Peaky Blinders will be becoming a ‘distinguished gentleman.’

Well, with the recent footage promising that the action will be coming thick and fast, it’s clear that Tommy will still be getting his hands dirty but one small detail may have gone unnoticed.

At this moment, consider this to be your spoiler alert warning.

Peaky Blinders Season 5

The renowned Peaky Blinders fan site, The Pesky Blunders, noticed that in the very first second of the sizzle reel that was recently released by the BBC, we see what looks like Tommy on the ground of a field (left of frame).

On the right side of the image, you can see what appears to be a Peaky Blinder being crucified in the field. Take a look at the cap.

As the trailer develops, we see a shot of Tommy arriving in the field and dropping his paper in shock.

Granted, this could be anyone on the cross but it’s clear that this person is wearing one of the Peaky Blinders caps.

To compound matters, the official Peaky Blinders account also shared this ominous message.

While the Changretta threat was dealt with in Season 4, we’re certain that Steven Knight has some new enemies for Tommy to deal with but there’s also the issue of Darby Sabini to deal with.

Of course, Sabini, was an associate of the Changretta family and he helped Luca Changretta on his vendetta against the Shelby family.

In the Season 4 opener, Sabini helped to get a hired assassin from New York into Tommy’s house.

Later in the season, during a meeting between Alfie Solomons and Tommy, we learn that that the Sicilians are using Sabini to obtain vehicles and places to stay, but don’t trust him for soldiers.

Is this tiny scene in the trailer a look at a new enemy for the Peaky Blinders, or will they be crossing a very familiar foe?

We can’t wait for Peaky Blinders to return.

The footage featuring this crucifixion is found at the very start of this clip (play it in super slow motion to get the best image)
