The political drama remains Aaron Sorkin’s biggest television hit to date.
Actress Allison Janney says she would love to reprise her role as C.J. Cregg and film more episodes of The West Wing.
It may be ten years since the show’s last episode but Janney believes that the current political climate in the United States means that people are yearning for fictional President Jed Bartlet, played by Martin Sheen.
“I love all my compadres from the West Wing,” she told the Press Association. “I’ve been seeing them a lot lately. I would love to walk the halls again with them at a fast pace, walk and talk. It would be a thrill.
“Here people are looking at the political scene and wishing there was a Jed Bartlet again. I’m with Hillary. I hope she can bring back some sense.”
Janney won three Emmy Awards for playing the press secretary in Sorkin’s masterpiece, and has since gone on to successful roles in Masters of Sex and the sitcom Mom, among others.
She recently returned to the White House to take the podium in character as C.J. and received a warm response from the gathered press.
“It was fantastic,” she revealed at the Gracie Awards in Los Angeles.
“I was so thrilled they asked me to come there. At first I balked at it. I was like, ‘No, no, no, I can’t do that.’
“And then I got talked into it and thought, ‘OK, I can do this’. It was pretty exciting to walk into that press briefing room as CJ and then once I became Allison all my nerves came out.”
