Aontas, the Irish language heist thriller that was an IFTA Best Film nominee this year, will have its TV premiere later this month.
Airing on both BBC One and TG4, the movie follows three unlikely thieves, led by a woman on the verge of a breakdown, who rob a rural Irish Credit Union.
Opening in the tragic aftermath of the heist-gone-wrong, the story unfolds backwards, chapter by chapter, to unravel the events that led to this point.
"What starts as a poorly executed robbery becomes a portrait of a wilful woman trapped in her own past," the plot synopsis adds.
Directed by Damian McCann (the very good 2021 thriller Doineann), Aontas stars Carrie Crowley (An Cailín Ciúin, The Walsh Sisters), Bríd Brennan (Anne Devlin, Dancing at Lughnasa) and Eva-Jane Gaffney (Harry Wild, Kin).
McCann wrote the screenplay for the thriller, alongside Sarah Gordon. The pair will also be working on the second season of TG4's hit mystery show, Crá.
Aontas' international premiere took place on 12 February 2025 in Santa Barbara, California. Its European premiere followed at the Dublin International Film Festival in the Light House Cinema later that month.

The movie has been highly acclaimed, picking up six nominations at this year's IFTA Awards, including Best Film.
Aontas will have its TV premiere on TG4 and TG4.ie on Monday, 16 March at 21.30pm.
The Irish-language film will also air on BBC iPlayer and BBC One Northern Ireland on the same date.
