Twins stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito reunited to kick off the 2023 White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C. this weekend.

The duo, who starred in the 1988 buddy comedy as brothers who were separated at birth, came together for a short video for the festival which celebrates the free press in America.

Schwarzenegger began the video message by saying, “I didn’t come here to roast anybody or to make jokes or anything like that. I just simply wanted to say thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you gathered here today because our country would not be the shining beacon of freedom that welcomes people like me without the free press.”

He then continued by saying, “I’m very proud of all of you, and it’s not just me. It’s Lulu and Whiskey and my twin brother, Danny DeVito,” as the camera showed off DeVito feeding a miniature horse and a donkey in the Terminator star’s office.

Twins was directed by Ivan Reitman and, while it was a commercial success, it received mixed reviews upon release. It has gained cult classic status since, considering the huge success of its two stars.

The two would go on star together in 1993’s Last Action Hero and 1994’s Junior as well. Most recently, Schwarzenegger made a cameo in DeVito’s animated horror-comedy series, Little Demon.

A sequel to Twins had been rumoured for years, with confirmation coming in 2021. Both Schwarzenegger and DeVito are set to return with 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan joining them as the duo’s long lost triplet.

However, Reitman, who was also attached to return as director, died last year, leaving the film’s status up in the air until a new director is found.
