Movies on TV

We’ve reached the midpoint of the week.

The weekend is now in grasping distance. We can almost reach out and touch it. What better way to buzz through the final few hours of today than by checking out some of the great movies on TV?

Here’s what’s on:

Manhunter – Sky Atlantic – 9pm

A movie based on the novel Red Dragon by Thomas Harris, about a little-known fictional serial killer named Hannibal Lecter. While Lecter wouldn’t really gain notoriety until he was played by Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs, another legend of the screen, Brian Cox, portrays him here.

Lakeview Terrace – Horror Channel – 9pm

A racially charged crime thriller, starring Samuel L. Jackson as a cop who doesn’t like white people, terrorising a mixed-race couple who have moved into his neighbourhood. Also stars the late Ron Glass.

Sudden Death – ITV4 – 9pm

Terrorists seize control of an ice-hockey stadium in the middle of a match attended by the US vice president. They really don’t make movies like this anymore, do they? Starring Jean Claude Van Damme.

Robocop – ITV4 – 11.10pm

He’s a cop, he’s a robot, life is hard for him.

Battle Star Wars – Syfy – 10pm

This isn’t Star Wars. It has nothing to do with Star Wars. How was it legal to name this film ‘Battle Star Wars’? Maybe if we watch it we will find out.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
