What is the best song of all time from a Disney movie?

Rory Cashin

Because we can’t ALL say ‘Let It Go’…

It is coming.

You can’t avoid it.

There is no escaping it.

Frozen 2 is almost here, and with it, you just know there will be a song that will be the catchiness equal to ‘Let It Go’, and it will consume the world like a virus.

And we couldn’t be happier.

So with that in mind, this week’s episode of The Big Reviewski asked The Big Question: What is the best song from a Disney movie?

‘Let It Go’ will have to be up there – it is one of the few Disney songs that has been successfully remixed into a Poppers O’Clock rave banger – but there are also so many other obviously brilliant tracks over the years, and it is likely that no two people will have the same answer.

Although, having said that, last week’s Big Question ended up with three of the four Big Reviewski folk having the same answer, so you never know…

Check out their picks in the clip below from 02:45, and let us know your picks on Twitter and Facebook!

Obviously, due to copyright issues and stuff, we couldn’t go to town with the length of the clips, but one second of each should get the tone across.

Justine went for ‘Hakuna Matata’ from The Lion King, because, in her own words, it takes her back to simpler times. Which is fair enough, because who doesn’t prefer the simpler times! Also, there is the key-change when he goes from Young Simba to Grown-Up Simba, and Justine loves – LOVES! – a good key-change.

Paul went for a film from the same era, choosing ‘Friend Like Me’ from Aladdin, which was really the first time we got to see the Genie in his all-powerful glory, and we got to hear Robin Williams basically voice-act a small hole in the screen.

Rory went old-school, because of course he did. He also went with a villain (again, naturally), or what he describes as a “sexy villain song” (which, again, is on brand), choosing ‘Cruella De Vil’ from 101 Dalmations, giving us an insight into the the evil of a woman who wants to literally skin over a hundred dogs so she can have a new coat.

And, finally, Eoghan brings us full circle with, uhm, the ‘Circle Of Life’ from The Lion King. The chances were always going to be good that the same movie was going to be picked twice, so we should just be thankful that it wasn’t the same song twice. Also, the image of a baby Elton John being held over Pride Rock is something that will now be scorched into our minds forever…
