Will you go down to the woods again?

Almost 20 years after it first split audiences right down the middle, no-budget indie horror phenomenon The Blair Witch Project will enjoy new life on the small screen.

Parent studio Lionsgate is branching out with a fresh slate of digital content in the form of Studio L, which will bring various projects online including a small-screen reboot for the Blair Witch.

Details for the latest entry into the surprisingly enduring franchise are scarce enough, but hopefully it will be better than the secretive 2016 sequel, which promised much but ultimately delivered an uninspired remake.

“The projects announced today signal our commitment to finding stand-out material, incubating new talent, and delivering authentic storytelling,” said Studio L Executive Vice President Seth Laderman.

“We will also continue to cultivate and foster fresh opportunities with existing Lionsgate properties, all built around Studio L’s low-risk, high-reward distribution model,” he added.

Let’s hope it’s more like this…
