Brendan O’Connor made a surprising announcement on The Saturday Night Show tonight
Say it ain’t so?

Brendan is hanging up his Saturday night shoes.

That’s right, folks… Brendan revealed tonight that The Saturday Night Show will finish up in May at the end of the current season.

The show has been on air for the past five years.

Here’s what the host had to say: “Basically after we beat The Late Late we decided that we’d kind of proven our point.

“So we’re not gone yet, there’s ten more shows to go. I think we on the team all feel quite liberated now so it will be a very interesting few months. Think about it, what are they going to do? Take us off the air?

“I hope you don’t get too upset,” he continued.

“I have an exciting new show in the works for next season.”

According to RTÉ News: "[Brendan] will return with a new prime time entertainment programme in 2016, and Ray D'Arcy will host a new show on Saturday nights from the autumn on RTÉ One."
