The return of Bridgerton and 7 more new movies and shows to watch this weekend

Rory Cashin

Four big releases in cinemas, and four big releases to watch at home!

Quite a bit to choose from this weekend. All depends on what you’re in the mood for!

Here are the new cinema releases, which will all be available on the big screens around Ireland from Friday, 25 March.

AMBULANCE

Michael Bay’s latest action epic sees two best friends (Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) hijack an ambulance when a bank heist goes wrong. We chatted to the stars of the movie, and you can check out that interview right here:

UMMA

The great Sandra Oh stars in the horror movie, telling the story of a mother and daughter living in happy isolation, until the cremated remains of a family member arrives, unleashing a demonic spirit upon them both.

THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD

As we said in our review, this is the first five-star movie of 2022. A fantastically funny drama about how coming-of-age can happen at pretty much any point in your life, and you’re never too old to learn how to grow up.

THE CELLAR

24 and The Girl Next Door star Elisha Cuthbert headlines this Irish horror about a family that move into a new home, only for the daughter to seemingly vanish in the cellar during their very first night there. As they try to find the missing girl, the parents discover that their new home has a very dark past…

We chatted to Cuthbert about her role in the movie, and you can check out that interview in full right here:

And now on to the stuff you can watch at home this week, starting with…

BRIDGERTON SEASON TWO

Shonda Rhimes gave Netflix one of its biggest shows EVER with the first season of Bridgerton, so it was only a matter of time before the raunchy period drama returned. This time we focus on Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and his search for love.

All eight episodes arrive on Netflix on Friday, 25 March.

THE EYES OF TAMMY FAYE

Jessica Chastain is up for the Best Actress Oscar for her performance as the infamous televangelist, giving us an intimate look at her extraordinary rise, fall and ultimate redemption.

The Eyes Of Tammy Faye is available to watch on Disney+ right now.

BLACKLIGHT

Liam Neeson’s latest foray into the world of action-thrillers sees him playing a Vietnam war veteran who works off the books for the FBI as a fixer. His latest mission sees him getting caught up in political conspiracy that has already resulted in a number of high profile deaths.

Blacklight is available to watch with your NOW Cinema Membership from Friday, 25 March.

PEACEMAKER

Writer/director James Gunn returns to the world of The Suicide Squad which tells the focused spin-off story of John Cena’s violent antihero, once again hired by a black ops government agent to take down a world-ending threat.
