Britney Spears is getting called out for seemingly miming in her Carpool Karaoke appearance

That's not how it works

JOE

Not that innocent.

The next megastar to appear in James Corden’s internet-conquering Carpool Karaoke series is none other than Britney Spears, but she’s already in trouble with eagle-eyed viewers.

The pop star confirmed her slot on social media earlier this month and The Late Late Show have released a teaser that offers a short glimpse of what fans can expect.

There’s no shortage of songs in Britney’s massive backlog for Corden to unleash, but for this part of the segment he loaded up 2003’s ‘Toxic’.

The clip starts with Corden thanking Britney for joining him on his journey to work, and he starts singing along to the track in typically enthusiastic fashion. James Corden was literally born to do karaoke duets with celebrities.

But social media wasn’t as happy with the 34-year-old singers’s contribution, with many pointing out that she appears to be miming. That’s cheating in our books.

Does this mean that hits like ‘Baby One More Time’ and ‘Oops!…I Did It Again’ will receive the same half-arsed treatment? We’re deeply concerned.

This is how the internet reacted.

Britney joins a long list of stars that have now taken their place in the Carpool Karaoke passenger seat. But as far as we know there were no miming scandals associated with Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez, Anthony Kiedis, or Michelle Obama.

All eyes on the full version when it drops later this week.
