One of the best Western movies ever is on TV tonight

The film stars two Oscar winners.

The buddy film revolves around Butch Cassidy (Oscar-winner Paul Newman) and the Sundance Kid (Oscar-winner Robert Redford), a pair of outlaws living in 1890s Wyoming as the West becomes rapidly civilised.

Pursued by a posse after a string of robberies, the duo - along with the Sundance Kid's lover Etta Place (Katharine Ross) - decide to flee to South America in hopes of evading the law.

Based loosely on true events, the movie is now considered an all-time classic thanks to the chemistry between its two stars, the film's music from Burt Bacharach and its iconic ending.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is airing on TV tonight on BBC Four at 8pm.
