Carrie Fisher’s brother sheds light on what to expect for Leia in Episode IX

Star Wars Episode IX Carrie Fisher Leia

“There’s a lot more to come from Carrie.”

It’s that time again when general rampant speculation of what to expect from the next Star Wars movie takes hold.

We’ve had the reveal of the first plot details thanks to a John Boyega interview in which he confirmed that the next episode will take place one year after the events of The Last Jedi.

Episode IX is currently untitled and returning Force Awakens director JJ Abrams has much to do following the highly divisive Rian Johnson-helmed adventure.

One bit of business that must be addressed is the fate of General Leia Organa, with actress Carrie Fisher sadly passing away in December of 2016, one year prior to The Last Jedi’s release.

Leia is still very much alive by the end of that film, and the plan to complete her character arc will reportedly involved unused footage from both episodes VII and VIII.

Speaking with ABC News, Fisher’s brother Todd moved to allay fears that this process won’t amount to a fitting tribute, noting that “there’s a lot more to come” from his late sister.

“There’s lot of minutes of footage,” said Fisher.

“I don’t mean just outtakes. This is unused, new content that could be woven into the storyline. That’s what’s going to give everybody such a great kick.

“It’s going to look like it was meant to be. Like it was shot yesterday.”

Fisher went on to note that he’s under strict secrecy regarding concrete plot information, but that the outcome has brought his family some comfort.

“We’re not allowed to talk about the details of anything,” he added.

“But we’re thrilled at what’s been done.”

Star Wars: Episode IX lands on 20 December 2019.
