We’re trying to keep it together here, guys.
Tuesday night brought us not just the season finale, but the SERIES finale for the incredible comedy, Catastrophe.
Just four seasons, just 24 episodes, and we now have to say goodbye to Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney and their incredibly unique but totally relatable love story.
If you don’t want to know how the show ends, then we strongly recommend you stop reading right here.
Riiiiiiiiiiight ….. HERE.
Okay, so… that ending.
What was with that ending??
Everyone who watched had the same reaction, completely unsure if the couple fighting against the tide together was one big metaphor, or if… you know… the worst thing imaginable actually happened.
#Catastrophe was great, but the massive distance they were from the shore at the end was unsettling. Did … did they get caught in a rip tide and die??

I loved the end of #Catastrophe. But @SharonHorgan @robdelaney did they drown??

Still processing that ending – so scary to see Sharon & Rob so far away from the shore . Are they going to be OK? #catastrophe

I can’t work out if the #Catastrophe ending was meant to just be a metaphor for them struggling against the current but being ok in the end but if that was the case then I wanted to see them just get out the water and be ok?? ??

@SharonHorgan @robdelaney You pair of dark bastards. #Catastrophe

Swimming against the current, just like their lives together have always been. Hats off to you #Catastrophe.

Despite the potential grim-ness of the meaning of that final shot, viewers were still quick to announce their love for the show, and how sad they were to say goodbye to the duo:
It never really got the ratings it deserved, but @robdelaney and @SharonHorgan should be incredibly proud of #Catastrophe. There was never a bad episode. Gonna miss Rob and Sharon and their very real relationship. If this really is the end. That was the perfect way to end it.

Genuinely devastated saying goodbye to one of my favourite series. #Catastrophe was amazing. Remember chatting with @tomhappens every Monday night about it's brilliance. Bye @SharonHorgan & @robdelaney ?

Damnit #Catastrophe ? I didn't want you to end, but what a show, and only one way it could end. Thank you @SharonHorgan, @robdelaney and all the cast and crew for four glorious years of the most fucked up, sexy as hell, hilarious show on TV!

Or in some cases, just straight up denial:
Decided I’m never going to watch the last episode of #Catastrophe Ever. That way, I can pretend it never ended. It’s just gone on holiday. It just went out for a pack of cigarettes. It’ll be back. Just you wait and see! You’ll all see.
