Channing Tatum has revealed he has bought the rights to and may star in a remake of one of the most romantic movies of all time.
Ghost was released in 1990 and starred Patrick Swayze as a murdered banker, whose ghost sets out to save his girlfriend (Demi Moore) from the person who killed him through the help of a psychic (Whoopi Goldberg).
Directed by Jerry Zucker (Airplane!), the film was a huge hit critically and commercially.
It went on to become the highest-grossing movie of that year and win two Oscars - Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress for Goldberg.
And now a remake of Ghost may be coming to screens courtesy of Tatum, with the actor telling
Vanity Fair that his production company, Free Association, has acquired the rights to the project.
Speaking to the outlet to promote his upcoming movie, Magic Mike's Last Dance, Tatum even said he could potentially play Swayze's part.
"We have the rights to Ghost... But we’re going to do something different," he stated, adding that the original featured some problematic stereotypes.
Meanwhile, Magic Mike's Last Dance will hip-thrust its way into cinemas on 10 February.
Tatum is also set to star in Zoë Kravitz's directorial debut Pussy Island.
