Louis Theroux wasn’t letting him away with it…
If you can cast your mind back to the beginning of lockdown, you may remember a group of celebrities decided to try and lift everyone’s dampened spirits by singing a rendition of John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’.
Naturally, it was torn to shreds by the internet, with almost everyone coming together to ask “Why the hell have you just done that?”
Ireland’s own Chris O’Dowd got in on the act, and has recently been grilled by Louis Theroux about it on an episode of his podcast, Grounded with Louis Theroux.
Speaking about the now infamous rendition, O’Dowd said: “It was just a bunch of people running around thinking that they had to do something when we really didn’t. We needed to just chill out and take everything in.
“So I think that any backlash was fairly justified.”
O’Dowd also described it as a period of “creative diarrhoea”, which is almost too accurate.
As you can imagine, Louis does not let him away with it easily.
Not by a long shot.
He gave him an awful bit of abuse, that I think we can all agree, is deserved.
O’Dowd took it very well in fairness to him.
Take a look at a clip from the episode here:
“We were in that first wave of creative diarrhoea that seemed to encase the entire world.” 🤣 😂
