Leonardo DiCaprio will produce the remake.

Chris Rock is set to direct a US remake of the Oscar-winning Danish comedy-drama Another Round.

Released in 2020, the original – also known as Druk – starred Mads Mikkelsen as one of four secondary school teachers, all dissatisfied in different ways with their lives, who decide to embark on an experiment.

This is to consume alcohol on a daily basis to see how it affects their social and professional lives.

While at first their lives change for the better, the experiment winds up having unintended consequences.

Co-written and directed by Thomas Vinterberg, the movie was widely acclaimed for its great premise, its stunning performances, its blend of riotous comedy and devastating drama and its show-stopping finale.

It went on to win the Best International Feature Film award at the Oscars.

Chris Rock to direct US remake of Another Round

Deadline is now reporting that Rock will helm a US remake of Another Round that Leonardo DiCaprio will produce.

The outlet also states that a draft of a script has already been written by Oscar nominee Stuart Blumberg (The Kids Are All Right) but that a new writer will be brought in to work with Rock on the screenplay.

The remake would be the fourth movie Rock has directed, following Head of State, I Think I Love My Wife and Top Five.

Starring Rock himself alongside Rosario Dawson, Top Five was a hit with critics upon release in 2024 and grossed over double its budget at the box office.
