Netflix has added a hit Western thriller series with 100% on Rotten Tomatoes

The series comes from producers George R.R. Martin and Robert Redford, and the creator of Jack Ryan.

Based on the Leaphorn & Chee novel series by Tony Hillerman, the story is set in the '70s in the American Southwest. It follows three Navajo Tribal Police officers (played by Zahn McClarnon, Kiowa Gordon and Jessica Matten) whose reservation is "besieged by increasingly violent crimes".

As such, it is down to the trio of cops to get to the bottom of the mysteries.

Dark Winds was created by Graham Roland (Jack Ryan) and is produced by George R.R. Martin (Game of Thrones) and the late and great Robert Redford (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid).

The show was a long-time passion project for Redford, who was also involved in the previous adaptations of Hillerman's novels, The Dark Wind (1991) and Skinwalkers (2002).

Having premiered in the States in 2022, Dark Winds was a hit with both audiences and critics, with its three seasons each scoring a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

In particular, the lead performance by McClarnon (also known for his parts in Fargo and Westworld) has been singled out for praise, as well as the show's gorgeous and unique setting.

A fourth season of the Western thriller is also on the way.

Also featuring in its cast Noah Emmerich (The Americans) and Rainn Wilson (The US Office), Dark Winds S1 is streaming on Netflix in Ireland and the UK.
