Dermot Bannon gets his dream clients on Room to Improve tonight… and he’s very nervous

Keeley Ryan

“Most of the time I give out about clients who won’t let me do what I need to do…”

On tonight’s Room To ImproveDermot Bannon meets his dream clients – and it’s made him incredibly nervous.

The latest episode of the RTÉ One design show sees the architect bring a vision of ‘Malibu style’ living to Dublin.

And not only are Lorna and Rory keen to take all of Dermot’s design ideas on board, they’ve got the budget to make his vision a reality.

When Dermot delivers his plan, the couple are blown away – and on the build goes.

In a preview clip, Dermot gives Rory and Lorna a preview of the colour he has chosen for the windows – and gets a quick thumbs up from both.

But the architect admitted that having the couple put so much trust in him was making him a little nervous, as he wants them to have a little bit of ownership, and to have an opinion.”

He explained to the camera:

“Most of the time I give out about clients who won’t let me do what I need to do. These guys are letting me do my job.

“They are letting me do what I need to do and that makes me incredibly nervous. Maybe that’s what makes me nervous… Not that they trust me, that’s wrong isn’t it?  Maybe I want them to have a little bit of ownership and to have an opinion.”

Be careful what you wish for though, Dermot. We reckon things might not always be smooth sailing.

Room to Improve airs on RTÉ One tonight at 9.30pm
