They are still loving it though, all the same.
Derry Girls is as Irish a show as you’ll ever see.
Everything about it, from the accents, to the slang, to the jokes made. It’s just made for Irish people to enjoy.
But that doesn’t mean that the rest of the world aren’t absolutely loving it.
Even The Hollywood Reporter called it the comedy of the year while adding that “their episodic humiliations are our comedy gold.”
While they are all enjoying the hilarity of the show, some viewers are struggling with one thing in particular.
The accents.
A number of Netflix viewers have struggled to understand the character’s accents throughout the show, and we can’t say that we’re too surprised. Irish accents can be tough to understand at the best of times.

I'm usually okay at understanding accents in TV shows, but 10 minutes of Derry Girls has me reaching for the subtitles.
Well played Ireland. You win this round.

Even if they are struggling with the accents a little bit, it’s good to see that it’s being appreciated by more than just Irish people.
