Disney may have found their Timon and Pumbaa for the live-action Lion King remake

Rory Cashin

The Lion King was amazing, nobody here is arguing that fact.

However, one of the many, MANY reasons as to why it was amazing as it was down to Timon and Pumbaa, the meerkat and warthog BFFs who helped Simba become the man who would ultimately reclaim his kingdom.

The original animated version had Nathan Lane (The Birdcage, Modern Family) and Ernie Sabella (uhm… The Lion King 2?) voice the beloved the characters, but from the second that director Jon Favreau would be following up his hugely successful live-action remake of The Jungle Book with the even bigger undertaking of The Lion King, all eyes were on the casting.

We’ve already had the casting confirmations on Simba and Mufasa, as well as early rumours on who will be playing Nala, but really we’re all pretty excited about who they get to play Timon and Pumbaa.

Well, according to The Wrap, Disney are in final negotiations with Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen to play the lovable duo.

Rogen you should probably know from being 99.9% of mainstream comedies in the last ten years, meanwhile Eichner is a stand-up comedian and most well known for his Billy On The Street segment.

Helpfully, he actually did one with Seth Rogen, in case you need a concise visual reminder of what they both looked like:
