The early casting announcements for the live-action Lion King movie are absolutely unreal

Carl Kinsella

If you’ve ever met somebody who doesn’t like the 1994 Disney classic The Lion King you should probably take great pains to remove that person from your life completely.

So too for anyone who is not hyper-excited by the recent casting announcements made by director Jon Favreau on Twitter.

Favreau shared a picture of Community and Atlanta star Donald Glover (also known as Childish Gambino) alongside the caption “I just can’t wait to be king. #Simba.”

It’s yet another iconic role for Hollywood’s latest golden boy Glover who recently landed himself the part as the young Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Han Solo movie.

Favreau not only announced Glover in the lead role, but also confirmed that legendary actor James Earl Jones would reprise his role as Mufasa, saying “Looking forward to working with this legend.”

It goes without saying that we’re excited for this one. There’s no release date as of yet, but we can’t wait to hear the announcements for Timon, Pumba and Scar.
