Stephen Porzio

The latest entry in the acclaimed anthology series has lined-up a stellar cast.

Best known for playing mob wife Carmela in legendary series The Sopranos, Edie Falco will return to screens as US politican Hilary Clinton in the third season of anthology show American Crime Story, Deadline reports.

Impeachment: American Crime Story is about the Bill Clinton-Monica Lewinsky sex scandal and will also see Clive Owen (Children of Men, The Knick) play Clinton and Beanie Feldstein (Booksmart, Lady Bird) take on the role of Lewinsky.

Actors Betty Gilpin, Billy Eichner, Margo Martindale and Sarah Paulson will also appear in the series, which will be directed by Richard Shepard (Girls, The Perfection) and executive produced by the prolific Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story, Ratched).

The season is based on Jeffrey Toobin’s book A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President.

Falco won multiple Emmys for her work on The Sopranos, as well as another for playing the title role in series Nurse Jackie.

She is also set to appear in James Cameron’s sequels to blockbuster Avatar.

Production on Impeachment: American Crime Story has been stop and start since the Covid-19 pandemic with filming being delayed twice.

Shooting has since resumed, however, no release date for the show has been set.

American Crime Story’s first season revolved around O.J. Simpson’s trial for murder, while the second focused on the assassination of legendary fashion designer Gianni Versace.

Both are well worth a watch and are streaming on Irish Netflix now.
