Plot's it all about?: Last time, he was armed with all of the equipment the hardware store he worked in could supply. This time, Denzel is a ruthless do-gooder disguised as a taxi driver, who is continuing to right as many wrongs as he wanders into.
When the first movie made almost $200 million at the box office, a sequel was almost immediately a sure thing, and this we see him go all out to avenge the death of a friend, which also places him smack bang in the middle of a gang war.
The action looks like it has been suitably pumped up from the original, but Denzel's Robert McCall looks to be far more inventive with his violence this time around.
We don't have too long to wait to see how the baddies get it this time, either.
Cast: Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, Bill Pullman, Melissa Leo.
Release date: Friday 17 August
Director: Antoine Fuqua
