You can't blame them for trying.

EastEnders tried to be more current last night when they included a reference to the winner of The Grand National, which took place at the weekend. As we all know, shows like EastEnders are filmed weeks in advance, so including a topic that's current is rare. On last night's show they had two of their characters, Michelle and Patrick, sitting on a bench outside discussing the winner of the Grand National. The only problem was that Michelle's earlier scenes were filmed weeks before so she appeared with the same outfit but looked a bit different due to her hair. Viewers at home immediately noticed that her hair appeared longer for the Grand National scene and then shorter for the rest of the episode.
