Adam Sandler’s latest attempt to win an Oscar and 6 more movies & shows to watch this weekend

Rory Cashin

The final (for now) Jurassic movie, the return of a brilliant comedy show, and LOADS more this weekend…

We’re fully into the summer season now, and with it comes one of the biggest summer blockbusters of 2022! Plus loads more new shows and movies to check out at home and in cinemas over the weekend.

To kick things off, here are the movies which will all be available on the big screens around Ireland from Friday, 10 June.

JURASSIC WORLD DOMINION

The sixth (and reportedly final) entry in the Jurassic movies sees the stars of the original trilogy (Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill) team up with the stars of the new trilogy (Bryce Dallas Howard, Chris Pratt) for one huge dino-filled farewell.

Check out our full review here, and our interviews with the stars of the movie below:

ALL MY FRIENDS HATE ME

A darkly comic paranoid thriller about a man named Pete (Tom Stourton) who is excited to be reunited with his friends on his birthday, only for them all to turn on him one by one, and he’s not entirely sure why. Or is he? 93% on Rotten Tomatoes!

And now on to the stuff you can watch at home this week, starting with…

WE OWN THIS CITY

The brand new crime thriller series from the creator of The Wire, this new miniseries details the true story behind the meteoric rise and very dangerous, corruption-fuelled fall of the Baltimore Police Department’s Gun Trace Task Force.

All six episodes are available to watch with a NOW Entertainment Membership right now.

MS. MARVEL

The latest Marvel show (in case the title didn’t give it away) focuses on a brand new hero, Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), who discovers she’s got most mysterious new superpowers, but tries to keep it all hidden from her overprotective extended family.

JOE chatted to some of the cast of the new show, and they revealed some interesting connections to members of the MCU. You can check out that interview in full right here.

First episode is available on Disney+ right now, with the rest of the season arriving every Wednesday.

HUSTLE

When a down-on-his-luck basketball scout (Adam Sandler) finds a potential superstar in Spain, he sets out to prove they both have what it takes to make it in the NBA.

The movie is available to watch on Netflix right now.

HACKS SEASON TWO

We absolutely loved the first season when it arrived on Prime Video on 1 April this year (after a long delay getting it over from HBO in the States), but thankfully we’ll be getting the second season much, much sooner! Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder return as two women finding their way in the world of modern comedy, and unbelievably, the second season has had an even better critical response than the first!

All eight episodes of the second season of Hacks will be available to watch on Amazon Prime Video from Friday, 10 June.

FIRST KILL

Falling in love is tricky for teens Juliette and Calliope: One’s a vampire, the other’s a vampire hunter — and both are ready to make their first kill.

The entire season is available to watch on Netflix from Friday, 10 June.
