The first trailer for Black Widow has some very strong Jason Bourne meets the MCU vibes

Black widow

The first look at Phase 4 of the MCU.

We always wondered how she managed to get all that red in her ledger.

Well, we’ll finally learn the reason because Black Widow is getting her own standalone film and the first action-packed trailer has been released.

In terms of the plot, it looks like we’re getting the most grounded and realistic MCU movie yet. Having seen the trailer, the tone is very much an espionage thriller that leans heavily on hand-to-hand combat, espionage, and government secrets.

Mmm, where have we seen that before?

Aside from this, we also get a glimpse of the new baddie Taskmaster, Rachel Weisz’s Melina Vostokoff, and David Harbour as Red Guardian – basically, he’s a Russian version of Captain America.

As fans of the MCU will know, the prequel sees the return of Scarlett Johansson’s Russian operative Natasha Romanoff.

Plot details are scarce but it’s rumoured to take place after the events of Captain America: Civil War but before Infinity War. After all, how else could they make a Black Widow film because Romanoff is dead after sacrificing her life on Vormir for the Soul Stone.

Cast: Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Rachel Weisz.

Release date: 1 May, 2020.

Director: Cate Shortland

Enjoy!
