Furious stars break down shocking finale as season 2 of crime thriller confirmed

Here's everything we know about what's next for our favourite TV show of 2026.

We would strongly advise, however, that only people who have seen the eighth and final episode of Furious read on.

This is because we do get into spoilers below.

Recap of Furious's S1 finale 'Hart Island'

In the final episode, vigilante killer Catherine (Ireland's own Lola Petticrew) visits the manor of Jay Easton (Peter McRobbie), the ailing billionaire pedophile who abused her. There, she learns the truth about her friend Isabel's death from Jay's daughter, Emma (Hope Davis).

Before Catherine has the chance to kill Jay, she is intercepted by FBI agent Alice Black (Rossum). Even so, Jay appears to die from respiratory failure during the break-in.

Catherine is arrested, with Alice visiting her in jail. This is before Alice goes on vacation with her best friend Danny, with the pair finally confessing their romantic feelings for one another.

In a twist ending, however, it's revealed that Alice killed Jay Easton by standing on one of his breathing tubes before choking him. This was after Jay made reference to a pornographic video featuring the FBI agent and recorded when she was a child, calling it "one of his favourites".

This reveal is intercut with Catherine asking Alice: "Did you like the way it felt?" and Alice looking at a list of usernames of people who downloaded the video. This suggests that the FBI agent may follow in Catherine's footsteps and become a vigilante herself.

The final moments put a satisfying bow on the season's dark cat-and-mouse story, with Alice finally coming around to Catherine's way of thinking. On top of this, though, it perfectly sets up a recently confirmed season two.

Emmy Rossum and Scoot McNairy on Furious finale and season two hopes

JOE spoke to Emmy Rossum and Scoot McNairy before the renewal news. They did, however, talk to us about the S1 ending and their hopes for a follow-up.

In particular, Rossum said she was excited to finally share scenes with Petticrew towards the end of the season, after several episodes of their characters inching closer and closer to one another.

Praising Petticrew as "incredible", Rossum added: "We couldn't wait to get into those scenes because there's this invisible thread between our characters.

"They've been getting closer to each other and wondering if they might be more similar than they are different... It's really, really fun when they end up where they do together."

We then asked if Rossum would be interested in reprising her role as Alice. She replied: "Certainly. I would do this role for as long as [creator Elizabeth Meriwether] wanted to. Truly. 

"I love [Alice]. I think she touches things in me, and other women and people, and she's a badass.

"I love the finale. When Liz was starting to break the show, she told me how she thought it would end, and I thought it was brilliant, obviously. Then we got to do it. 

"So I think that it feels very satisfying, but yes, I think there are secrets that come out and also new secrets that are formed. So, there's certainly opportunity there."

McNairy also said he would "absolutely" reprise his role as Danny, telling JOE: "Liz has, I would imagine, got a hefty plate on her hands. She's written something so amazing, and it's getting all this attention. How do you replicate that and make it better?

"Regardless, I would go into the fire with her 100%. I'd love to be a part of a second season. I think that was probably her intention: to wrap things up with a bow, to give the viewer the satisfaction, but leave it open-ended, that if they want to do a second season, they're open to doing that.

"I'd love to go on that journey with them for sure."
