Get ready to laugh and cry with the final season of After Life

Stephen Porzio

The third series of the Ricky Gervais-starring show arrives on Netflix this month.

Netflix has unveiled an official trailer for the third and final season of After Life which is to arrive on the streamer later this month.

For those unaware, the comedy-drama was created by and stars Ricky Gervais as a once nice newspaper writer named Tony whose life is turned upside down after his wife Lisa (Kerry Godliman) dies.

Instead of trying to cope with the tragic loss, or deal with it in a healthy way, Tony begins the series deciding to spend his life punishing the world over the loss by saying and doing whatever he wants regardless of how it makes other people feel.

Notably darker than many of Gervais’ previous hit shows, After Life has built up a legion of fans on account of its blend of humour and drama.

In fact, we here at JOE said of After Life previously:

“As heartbreaking as it can be at times, it makes for a powerful watch and an all-too-real look at what life is like when you feel like you’re at rock bottom.

“It may not have the hilarity that The Office or Extras had, but it does have the heart, and there are a few excellent jokes thrown in there for good measure.”

The final season will see Tony continuing to mourn the loss of Lisa, as well as his father (David Bradley).

It arrives on Netflix on 14 January.
