Dan Aykroyd on Ghostbusters 3: “It is being written right now”

ghostbusters 3

He is also very confident that he’ll get remaining Ghostbusters all back together for the movie.

Has there even been this much love for a series of films in which… there was legitimately only one good one?

Predator, maybe?

Alien got at least two before it went off the rails.

Ditto for The Terminator.

But Ghostbusters had one classic, then one faded recycled sequel, and then the not-as-bad-as-you’ve-heard 2016 reboot, but fans of the series really, REALLY want to see the old gang back together.

Which is why you’ll probably be very happy to hear what original star / screenwriter Dan Aykroyd had to say during a recent interview with AXS TV (via Digital Spy):

“There is a possibility of a reunion with the three remaining Ghostbusters. It’s being written right now. […] I think Billy will come. The story’s so good. Even if he plays a ghost.”

With the late Harold Ramis no longer with us, that would leave Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Bill Murray, who previously stated that he might be happy to return to the series, but probably only in ghost form.

Original director Ivan Reitman is still working hard – he’s reportedly currently working on the sequel to the Arnie and Danny DeVito comedy Twins, titled Triplets, and also starring Eddie Murphy – so if he were also to come back, who knows? Maybe we could also get Sigourney Weaver, Rick Moranis, and Annie Potts back in the mix too!

Streams Fingers crossed!
