The first trailer has just dropped and... yep, we're terrified.
We don't think it is too much of a stretch to say that Jason Blum is a genius.
He has founded Blumhouse off the back of some seriously profitable horror series, including Paranormal Activity, Sinister, Insidious, The Purge, Unfriended and more, but is also responsible for the likes of Get Out, Split, Whiplash, the documentary series The Jinx, brand new drama Sharp Objects, and the upcoming Halloween reboot.
So... yeah, he is a bit of a genius when it comes to knowing what is going to profitable, which brings us to Ghoul.
India is one of the largest markets in the world, and it is obvious that it will be a prime target for Netflix going forward, as their most recent series - crime drama Sacred Games - has scored a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
With over a billion potential subscribers there alone, of course it makes sense to provide for that market, but horror is never defined by geographical lines, as the likes of The Orphanage, Ringu, Switchblade Romance, The Grudge, [REC], Let The Right One In, Raw, A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night, Audition and plenty more can attest to.
Ghoul is a three-part series about a promising soldier who is present when an important prisoner is brought to a remote military facility for interrogation. However, he soon turns the tables on his interrogators, exposing their most shameful secrets, and all the wahile helping a demon enter our world.
The series will be available on Netflix from Friday 24 August, and you can check out the trailer right here:
