Why you should be watching… Hannibal

Hannibal Netflix why you should watch

Dark, dangerous and deeply twisted, this is one most the most underrated TV gems of the last decade…

Considering we’re all spending a lot of time indoors these days, the JOE team has picked out viewing recommendations for TV series, old and new, to get stuck into to keep boredom at bay.

Title: Hannibal

Starring: Mads Mikkelsen, Hugh Dancy, Laurence Fishburne, Gillian Anderson

Where can you watch it? Netflix

Number of seasons/episodes: Three seasons, 39 episodes

IMDB rating: 8.5/10

Why you should watch it: Because not enough people did at the time, for one.

Hannibal ran for three seasons between 2013 and 2015, eventually being cancelled due to low ratings. Word is that each season renewal was harder to accomplish than the previous and honest, it’s kind of bizarre that NBC, a network that isn’t quite HBO, made this at all.

So, be thankful for what we got because what we got is fantastic. As the title suggests, this is another go-round for one of pop culture’s most famous killers – Hannibal Lecter.

Played to devilish perfection by Mads Mikkelsen, this iteration of the character finds himself on a collision course with Will Graham (Hugh Dancy), a highly empathetic criminal profiler that may prove to be Lecter’s greatest match in more ways than one.

Jaw-dropping inventive murder tableaus, glorious cinematography and knowingly ridiculous killer-of-the-week storylines await anyone who hasn’t dived in to date but just one quick word of caution; the pace is slow enough and the show is more interested in the abstract than your standard crime adventure but the rewards, my friends, are many.

Oh, and the food looks unbelievable, too.
