Bond 25

007 needs a new director.

James Bond might always have an escape plan to evade Blofeld or Goldfinger, but the producers must have had the living daylights scared out of them recently, as they’ll be looking to give a new director a licence to kill on Bond 25.

As previously reported, 28 Days Later and Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle has left the project due to creative differences.

With a release date of 25 October 2019, EON Productions will be casting their goldeneye for a new director.

As reported by The Telegraph, meanwhile, the main reason for Boyle’s departure was due to a fall out over whether to cast Tomasz Kot as the lead villain.

The report states that the 41-year-old Polish actor was described as a “left-field” decision for a Bond villain.

The report states: “It was telling the producers put his [Craig’s] name on their release saying that Boyle had been sacked. I have heard that they wanted to bring that Cold War element in but update it to the modern day. Danny Boyle was in for that. That wasn’t the problem. The problem came in when they were making the final decisions about casting pre-production.”

The report also states that Boyle was insistent on bringing in his own writing team, including his established writing partner John Hodge, which wasn’t well received by Bond producer Barbara Broccoli.

As for the plot, it’s alleged that the producers were unhappy with the decision to focus on contemporary political tensions with Russia and a “modern-day Cold War”.
