Season 2 of The Haunting Of Hill House will ditch one of the best parts of the first season

Rory Cashin

Don’t worry though, it is for a VERY good reason…

If you haven’t been watching it, then you need to watch The Haunting Of Hill House on Netflix right now, because as our own Paul Moore put it, it is one of the greatest horror shows ever made.

Since the huge critical and public success of the show – it was THE talk of Twitter the week it was released – all eyes have been on what is next for the series.

A few weeks ago, JOE spoke to Michiel Huisman (Steven Crain), he said that talks have already started with regards to Hill House Season 2:

“Well, you know what. Very early on, when we were still shooting this show, we had conversations about what a second season could look like and I think that one of the crazy things about Mike (Flanagan) is that he is an infinite well of ideas and stories. I don’t think he ever sleeps! There are possibilities – if the show is a hit – to create a second season and still be in this world of Hill House.”

“[I] could also totally see (Mike Flanagan, creator of the show) pitch an idea where we just do a spin-off. Film an anthology series and take it in a completely different direction. We have to wait and see. That’s one of the cool things about Netflix, they’re open to anything. We’ll wait and see.”

That lines up with the latest talk about the show, as Flanagan spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the show’s potential second season, where he backed up the anthology idea, but also stated that “the story of the Crain family is told.”

So anyone hoping that the family might return to deal with another series of scary scenarios – not unlike the central couple in The Conjuring series, especially since Steven Crain himself is sort of a paranormal investigator in the show – that would appear not to be the case.

Although, Hill House 2 could find a way to involve them again in another way, as anyone who watched the twisty, turny, folding-back-on-itself story of the first season can attest to.

Watch this spooky space…
