The King we deserved.
While some Game of Thrones fans were unhappy with the plotting and pacing of Season 8, it’s arguable that the most consistent character arc belonged to The Hound.
After reuniting with Arya in Winterfell, we detected a a small element of pride and happiness in Sandor Clegane because he did teach Arya an awful lot about what it takes to be a killer.
This being said, The Hound’s way of expressing he cares is by saying: ““You’re a cold little bitch aren’t you? Guess that’s why you’re still alive.”
We wouldn’t have it any other way!
After playing his part in defending Winterfell against the army of the dead – the scene when he almost gives up all hope as the flames engulf his surroundings is excellent – Sandor was reunited with another Lady of House Stark, Sansa.
Of course, after the Battle of Blackwater, The Hound offered to rescue Sansa from her King’s Landing nightmare by taking her home. He also taught Sansa an important lesson about what it takes to survive when playing the game of thrones.
“Stannis is a killer. The Lannisters are killers. Your father was a killer. Your brother is a killer. Your sons will be killers someday. The world is built by killers… so you better get used to looking at them,” he said.
The Hound is definitely a killer but he might also be the funniest character in Westeros.
After all, who else can combine a hunger for chickens with an epic killing spree?
The Hound’s entire arc in the show was leading to one moment, Cleganebowl, but he provided us with plenty of laughs along the way – for example, the scene between him and Tormund beyond The Wall is comedy gold.
Before getting fiery revenge on his older brother, The Hound imparted some knowledge on Arya as she learned that a life of vengeance is no life at all.
The Hound has left us but we’ll always love how Sandor Clegane lived his life because to many people, he’s the best character in Game of Thrones.
As for his best line, it’s a tossup between “fuck the King” and “I understand that if any more words come pouring out your cunt mouth, I’m gonna have to eat every fucking chicken in this room”.
We also have a soft spot for this conversation he had with Arya.
