The Invisible Man is going down the pure horror route thanks to the minds behind Get Out and Insidious

The first trailer for the new scary movie has just dropped.

Leigh Whannell is the guy who wrote Saw and Insidious, and while his last movie was the painfully overlooked Upgrade (seriously, check it out), he is making the leap to the big leagues with his next directorial outing, The Invisible Man.

He’ll be making the movie with producer Jason Blum, the guy behind Get Out, Paranormal Activity, Split, the recent reboot of Halloween, and about 50% of every horror movie you’ve seen in the last decade or so.

So between them, yeah, they definitely know their way around the horror genre.

Originally, this character was going to be folded into the Dark Universe – alongside Tom Cruise’s The Mummy and Luke Evans’ Dracula Untold – but when they both flopped at the box office, Universal decided to scale back their famous horror movies into something smaller, more intimate, and scarier.

So here we have Elisabeth Moss, dealing with the death of her abusive ex (The Haunting Of Hill House’s Oliver Jackson-Cohen), a bit of a mad scientist, who has left her millions of dollars in his will, which she will get as long as she can prove she is mentally sound.

However, since he died, she keeps seeing things moving in her home, and can’t quite shake the feeling that she is being watched…

Much in the same way that Get Out used hot topics in its scares, it looks like this new take on The Invisible Man is going to have a lot of people talking.
