Irish Blood, a new Ireland-set thriller starring Alicia Silverstone (Bugonia, Clueless), has finally been handed an Ireland/UK release date.
A six-part murder mystery, the series revolves around Fiona Fox (Silverstone), an American lawyer who was abandoned by her Irish father, Declan (Jason O'Mara, The Siege of Jadotville), as a child.
After years of channelling anger toward him, to the benefit of her litigious clients, she receives a message from her estranged dad, which causes her to return to the Emerald Isle.
In Ireland, Fiona resolves to uncover the full truth about her father, as well as the Irish side of her family that didn't know she existed.
In addition to O'Mara and Silverstone, Irish Blood's cast includes Wendy Crewson (We Were Liars), Dearbhla Molloy (Four Mothers), Simone Kirby (Kneecap), Ruth Codd (The Fall of the House of Usher) and Leonardo Taiwo (Ant-Man & The Wasp).
Upon its premiere in the States on Acorn TV in August 2025, Irish Blood became the most-watched show in the streaming service's history. As such, the series was quickly renewed for a season two.
The thriller also earned very positive reviews from critics, with it currently holding an 86% Rotten Tomatoes score.
You can read a sample of some of these positive write-ups below:
Common Sense: "This is the kind of crime drama reminiscent of the staples that once dominated cable TV - familiar, steady, and still quietly popular even if they don't generate much pop-culture buzz anymore."
Paste Magazine: "Irish Blood is at its most compelling when it’s focused on Fiona herself. Nothing about this series works if we don’t care about her journey, and Silverstone allows her to be charmingly vulnerable throughout."
Tellyvisions: "Amidst all the mystery and mayhem lies a surprisingly heartfelt story about family finding each other, how the past will eventually catch up with you, and how to forge a path forward amidst family hurt and wreckage."
What She Said: "Silverstone stars in and produces Irish Blood, entering an underworld of evil intent as complex as it is shocking. Good fun."
After months of waiting, it has finally been confirmed that Irish Blood will be coming to the other side of the Atlantic next month, just in time for Christmas TV binges.
It will premiere on Sunday, 14 December at 9pm on Sky Witness.
The series will also be available to stream in its entirety from the service NOW that same day.
