My Oh My.
The incredibly popular duo of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis were playing to a sold-out crowd at the 3Arena in Dublin this weekend and the Grammy Award winner didn’t disappoint with lots of his fans absolutely loving the gig.
@macklemore was amazing last night ?? Would do it all again in a heartbeat ❤️ pic.twitter.com/FJh2cxiWoz

The rapper has always felt a special bond with Irish audiences and it seems like he’s adored by his fans over here also.

Here he is throwing a cookie onto the second tier of the venue after his song “Let’s Eat”. We’ve no idea why he did this but it’s pretty impressive.
While fans of the ‘Thrift Shop’ and ‘Can’t Hold Us’ singer were understandably swept up in the buzz of the evening, journalist Dave Hanratty was also in attendance but in a strictly professional capacity.
His account of the whole evening is wonderfully surreal. Take a look.
I'm at a Macklemore gig.

As is the norm with most performers that are looking for some hometown love, Macklemore played up the Irish card.
HE'S WEARING AN IRELAND JERSEY

Things got a bit weird though.
He just did some Neil Buchanan Art Attack sketch thing in the middle of a song. Wasn't great. #DaveDoesMacklemore

The standard chant soon broke out.
Three 'Ole, Ole' chants so far. #DaveDoesMacklemore

Dave seemed like he was slowly being won over by the Washington rapper.
Production values are absolutely terrific, to be entirely fair to the dude. #DaveDoesMacklemore

Chants are back, Ted. The rapper might also get a bit of a surprise when he visits the Twister Pepper/ Wigwam though.
Up to 7 'Ole Ole' chants. Row next to me DETERMINED. Macklemore just gave The Twisted Pepper a shout out. Does he know? #DaveDoesMacklemore

To be fair to the Grammy Winner, he did give everything when he was on stage.
Dude is sweating like Brock Lesnar. #DaveDoesMacklemore

The crowd seemed like they were really getting into it.
A girl stands by an exit, shouting "I JUST WANT TO DANCE" as her friend ignores this impassioned plea. Life is cruel. #DaveDoesMacklemore

'Can't Hold Us' is on and the place is shaking and it's louder than 2001: A Space Odyssey in 70mm. I'm going to die. #DaveDoesMacklemore

There was drama in the jacks though…
Pretty sure I just witnessed a break up on my trip to the bathroom, there. Hope they sort it out. #DaveDoeaMacklemore

…and on stage.
Someone just threw their iPhone onstage, because this is who we are now. This is our culture. We're all going to die. #DaveDoesMacklemore
— Dave Hanratty (@HanrattyDave) April 15, 2016
Another iPhone hits the stage. They cost €600 what the absolute fuck are you doing #DaveDoesMacklemore

The important question. Will Dave and Macklemore be mates?
Honestly, that was a lot of fun. Dude has promised 12,000 people will now take over the city. See you there I guess. #DaveDoesMacklemore
— Dave Hanratty (@HanrattyDave) April 15, 2016
You better believe it!
I feel like me and Macklemore would be good mates, but he'd bang on about loving Ireland too much and it'd get weird. #DaveDoesMacklemore

Here’s hoping that Macklemore’s upcoming Dublin gigs will be just as eventful.
