What a year it’s been for these guys.
Right now is a perfect time to gauge the impact of Irish actors in the movie world in 2015.
Early next year, Michael Fassbender will most definitely be in the running for the Best Actor Oscar for his performance as Steve Jobs.
Hot on the heels of Brooklyn, we’ll see Domhnall Gleeson alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy in The Revenant and he’s in some little Indie flick called Star Wars: The Force Awakens before that.
As well as those two, Chris O’Dowd, Jack Reynor and Colin Farrell have all been busy in the last year too, but only one of them can win the JOE Movie Star of the Year for 2015.

Domhnall Gleeson
We’re bang in the middle of Oscar season right now and given his career trajectory to date, it’s no surprise that Gleeson’s name is attached to three of the most-talked about movies at the moment: Brooklyn, The Revenant and that afore-mentioned small-time flick called Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
He’s hit the big time alright and he’ll be staying there for a long time too.
Jack Reynor
Our next star in the making, Reynor was stunning in the Gerard Barrett-directed Glassland as a son trying desperately to save his mother (Toni Collette) from her crippling addiction to alcohol.
He’ll have to get used to appearing alongside the big names because he’s landed a part in the World War II drama HHHH, which will also feature Jason Clarke, Jack O’Connell and Rosamund Pike.
Michael Fassbender
Leonardo di Caprio may well have to extend that interminable wait for a Best Actor Oscar because Michael Fassbender’s performance as Steve Jobs in the movie of the same name has Academy Award written all over it.
Excellent in Macbeth, Fassbender also has another X-Men film and Assassin’s Creed to look forward to in 2016.
No rest for the wickedly talented.
Chris O’Dowd
You might have thought Chris O’Dowd’s career peaked when he was awarded the Freedom of Roscommon last year, but it’s only pushed him onto bigger and better things.
O’Dowd’s biggest role in 2015 was as journalist David Walsh in The Program, an account of the downfall of cyclist Lance Armstrong following revelations about years of using performance-enhancing drugs.
Colin Farrell
Farrell will probably be best remembered for his portrayal of troubled Detective Ray Velcoro in the second season of True Detective in 2015, but he also received rave reviews for his leading role in The Lobster, a sci-fi comedy flick filmed mostly in Kerry.
