If you loved Tiger King, then this is absolutely going to be the show for you.

Originally released upon the world on 20 March, 2020 – riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight as everyone decided leaving their house anymore was probably not the greatest idea ever – Tiger King was one of those things that seemed to come out of nowhere and completely consume all of our lives.

Almost immediately afterwards, it seemed like all of Hollywood wanted to make their version of the story.

Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story) was apparently in talks with Rob Lowe (Parks & Rec) to take on the role of Joe Exotic for a movie, while Nicolas Cage was rumoured to be tackling the part for a show written by Dan Lagana (American Vandal).

However, once the dust had finally settled, one project did come to fruition, and this week we’ll finally get to see Joe vs. Carole with our NOW Entertainment Membership.

During the documentary series, we were told the story after-the-fact, but with Joe vs. Carole, it goes back to the very beginning of the incredibly dangerous feud between Joe Exotic (played by John Cameron Mitchell – Girls, The Good Fight) and Carole Baskin (Kate McKinnon – Ghostbusters, Saturday Night Live).

While we know who Joe and Carole were and are during the events portrayed by Tiger King, this new limited series will give a glimpse into the personal pasts of both individuals, giving more layers to these already multi-layered characters.

The show will dramatise the relationship between Carole and her husband Howard (Kyle MacLachlan – Twin Peaks, Sex and the City), as well as some of Joe’s relationships with Travis Maldonado (Nat Wolff – The Stand, The Fault in Our Stars) and John Finlay (Sam Keeley – Dublin Murders, Kin).

Other big names involved in the project are William Fichtner (The Dark Knight, Prison Break) as Rick Kirkham, the producer of the reality show starring Joe Exotic, and Dean Winters (30 Rock, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) as Jeff Lowe, who took over Exotic’s park at the end of Tiger King.

So, for anyone who loved the story of Tiger King but wanted to know even more about it, this is absolutely going to be the show for you.

All eight episodes of Joe vs. Carole will be available to watch with your NOW Entertainment Membership from Friday, 4 March.
