JOE’s Top 5 reasons to go to the 2015 Jameson Dublin International Film Festival

We cannot wait for this to kick off...

Eoghan Doherty

Roll on 19 March…

The thirteenth annual Jameson Dublin International Film Festival officially launched earlier today and, to get you all in the perfect movie mood, we’ve compiled a list of the Top 5 reasons why you should stop what you’re doing, grab yourself a 2015 festival pass and ready yourself for one of Ireland’s most enjoyable festival experiences.

And, for an Irish festival, there’s not a banjaxed tent or muddy field in sight… unless they’re on the big screen of course.

The fantastic film festival takes place from 19-29 March 2015 and for more information you can visit the official JDIFF website here.

The Irish talent

As ever, there’s an amazing array of Irish talent being showcased at this year’s festival and, one particular highlight that we’re looking forward to here at JOE, is Kerryman Gerard Barrett’s Glassland, starring the supremely-talented Jack Reynor in a Sundance award-winning performance.

Get a load of this…

The films

The diverse and exciting programme invites audiences to traverse the globe in 11 days from the comfort of their cinema seat to over 38 countries including Korea, Denmark, US, Brazil, Russia and many more. In the inspiring words of Festival Director Gráinne Humphreys, you’ll be travelling the world on a “chair with wings.”

Just be careful you don’t spill your popcorn on the people below…

The audience

You really can’t beat the experience of going to the cinema to watch an incredible film, especially when you’re alongside crowds of fellow film fans who just cannot get enough of that wonderful silver screen stuff.

Whether it’s JDIFF’s must-attend Surprise Film or the much-loved Jameson Cult Film Club screening, each excellent individual event is well worth your time.

The guests

Jaypers, where to begin?

Kenneth Branagh, Ryan O’Neal, Julie Andrews, Russell Crowe, Kim Cattrall, Danny Huston, Jan Harlan, Jack Reynor, Robbie Sheehan, Orla Brady and Vincent Perez are among a host of international and Irish guests already confirmed for the 2015 Jameson Dublin International Film Festival.

We’re going for pints with ALL of them. They don’t know it yet, but we are.

Plus, you can join Julie Andrews and JOE in twirling around outside The Savoy and singing about nuns and Nazis ’til the cows come home.

Hans Gruber

That’s right, Hans Gruber is coming to town. Hans feckin’ Gruber. What else do you need to know?

(You do know we’re talking about Alan Rickman, right? We cannot wait.)

Yippee-ki-yay movielovers!
