Keanu Reeves wants to make another Constantine film

Paul Moore

Constantine sequel

The first is massively underrated, we’d love this.

While a newer generation of film fans have rightfully fallen in love with John Wick’s ability to kill anyone with anything, it’s worth remembering that Keanu Reeves has consistently been kicking ass throughout the decades.

Point Break, Speed, Johnny Mnemonic (it has its fans), The Matrix, and Street Kings are just some of his earlier entries but if you’re looking for a massively underrated film of his, look no further than Constantine.

Released in 2005, Francis Lawrence’s adaptation of the Hellblazer comic featured a wonderfully sardonic turn from Reeves and he was joined by a very impressive supporting cast.

Peter Stormare’s take on Satan was one of the best that we’ve seen on screen while Rachel Weisz, Djimon Hounsou, Tilda Swinton, and even Shia LaBeouf delivered the goods.

Ok, ‘LeBeef’ was annoying as hell but his character was supposed to be that way…so we’ll cut him some slack.

Truth be told, this scene still holds up.

Anyway, the film wasn’t embraced by the critics – it currently has a rating of 46% and 50% on Rotten Tomatoes – but it has gathered something of a cult following, a TV adaptation with Matt Ryan in the leading role was also made.

During an interview with Variety, the Hollywood icon said that he’s still interested in reprising the character.

“I’ve always wanted to play John Constantine again. I just love that world, too, and I love that character. I just had a blast playing a character and in that world,” said Reeves.

Well, with Bill and Ted 3 and John Wick 4 on his agenda, it’s clear that Reeves is a very busy man but we’d love to see him back as a the supernatural detective.
