The Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro-starring crime epic will be available to stream very soon.
Apple TV+ has confirmed that its crime epic Killers of the Flower Moon will be available to stream on the service next week.
Based on David Grann’s bestselling non-fiction book of the same name, the movie is co-written and directed by legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese (The Departed, Goodfellas, The Wolf of Wall Street).
Set in 1920s Oklahoma, it depicts the serial murder of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation, a string of brutal crimes that came to be known as the Reign of Terror.
Killers of the Flower Moon stars Scorsese regulars Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, alongside Lily Gladstone.
It also features amongst its supporting cast Brendan Fraser, Cara Jade Myers, Jesse Plemons, John Lithgow, Louis Cancelmi, Tantoo Cardinal and Tatanka Means.
Killers of the Flower Moon finally gets streaming release date
A whopping 206 minutes long, the movie was released in Irish cinemas last October and earned rave reviews, with critics in particular praising its sensitive but unflinching handling of its shocking true story, its performances and its final scenes.
In JOE’s review of the film, we wrote:
“De Niro imbues his character with a the energy of a sociopathic python, often barely moving, observing everything with unblinking eyes and an inscrutable expression, with sudden movements reserved for tiny moments of anger, to reinforce his position of power. It truly is a masterclass in unshowy magnetism and he deserves all of the awards attention he gets, including what could be his first Oscar win since 1981.”
Currently holding a 93% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the crime epic has received seven Golden Globe nominations and is a major contender at this year’s Oscars.
And for those who missed the film while it was in theatres and have been eagerly waiting to watch it at home, Apple TV+ has confirmed that Killers of the Flower Moon will be available to stream globally on its service from Friday, 12 January.
