One of the 2022’s biggest award winners is here!

If you didn’t catch King Richard in the cinema late last year, then you’ll be happy to hear that the movie is available to stream with a NOW Cinema Membership this week! And if you did catch it in cinemas, then you’ll already know how good it is, and you’ll want to watch it again!

The six-time Oscar-nominated movie tells the story of Richard Williams (Will Smith), the father of Venus (Saniyya Sidney) and Serena Williams (Demi Singleton), who we all know today to be two of the greatest athletes in living history. But decades earlier in their lives, it was Richard’s singular approach to training his daughters that put them on that path to greatness.

At this year’s Academy Awards, the movie was nominated for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Editing, Best Original Song (for Beyonce’s ‘Be Alive’), Best Supporting Actress (for Aunjanue Ellis, who plays the sisters’ mother Oracene Price), while Will Smith actually did take home the Oscar for Best Actor.

Perhaps even more impressive, both Venus and Serena stated that it was as true to life as possible, with Serena telling Forbes the following:

“I think it was a great opportunity to see how amazing African-American fathers are. A lot of black men aren’t seen in that light. And a lot of people think that my dad was a different character. He wanted us to have fun first over anything. That’s the thing that I loved most.”

King Richard is available to stream with a NOW Cinema Membership.
