Kit Harington’s answer about the Jon Snow revelation has a big impact on the Iron Throne

Jon Snow throne

A game-changing moment.

It was quite the eventful season opener for Jon Snow.

Aside from retuning home, seeing his long lost siblings, reuniting with his best friend, shifting his aunt, preparing for all out war against the dead, and getting to ride a dragon that’s named after his actual father, he had a personal bombshell to deal with too.

After that episode ended, it’s fair to say that nobody will ever say ‘you know nothing, Jon Snow’ ever again.

Prior to the Season 8 opener, we all knew the secret of Jon Snow’s true lineage – Jon’s not a bastard, he’s Aegon Targaryen, the rightful heir to the Iron Throne – but after bending the knee to his aunt Daenerys, he has put himself in quite the pickle.

Jon sacrificed his own crown for his people, will Dany do the same?

In terms of that particular scene, Kit Harington told EW that this revelation is “the most upsetting thing in the world” for his character.

After going through stages of shock and anger, Harington said that the Iron Throne is something that Jon is firmly not interested in.

“That’s the thing I love about Jon, his purity. He doesn’t fucking want it. He doesn’t want that fucking information. He doesn’t want to know. He has no ambition for the throne. He’s never wanted that. The end of the world might be coming soon but at least he’s in love with somebody and knows who he is, and then comes this sledgehammer,” said Harington.

Jon doesn’t want the throne which is good news for Daenerys, however, we can’t help but dwell on that scene when Ser Davos, Tyrion, and Varys were contemplating the idea of a power share.

Could this be a foreshadowing of what’s to come?

During an interview with the official Game of Thrones site, the actor elaborated on the scene and said that it was almost “way too much to take. I was joking with John Bradley, ‘How do you as an actor receive all those bits of information? How do you act that?”

They’ve got death raining down on them and suddenly, he finds out the truth about his life and that he’s not a bastard. And on top of that, the new love of his life is his aunt. I was like ‘this is an impossible task'”
