The highly anticipated drama could be an Oscar contender.
The first trailer for the upcoming biographical drama Spencer has been released, giving viewers a first look at Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana.
Much-anticipated since it was first announced last year, the film is written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight and is directed by Pablo Larrain, whose movie Jackie earned Natalie Portman an Oscar nomination for Best Actress in 2016.
The plot synopsis for Spencer reads: "During her Christmas holidays with the royal family at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England, Diana decides to leave her marriage to Prince Charles."
Co-starring Jack Farthing (The Riot Club) as Prince Charles, alongside Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water), Sean Harris (Prometheus) and Timothy Spall (The King's Speech), given the talent involved and the subject matter, Spencer is already anticipated as being a contender at next year's Oscars.
The film will have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on 3 September and is currently scheduled to be released in Irish cinemas on 5 November.
