BBC’s new thriller series has just jumped to the top of our must-watch lists

Rory Cashin

Little Drummer Girl

From the writer of The Night Manager and the director of Oldboy.

BBC have just dropped the first teaser trailer for their new limited series and it looks pretty fantastic.

The Little Drummer Girl stars Florence Pugh (The Commuter) as Charlie, a brilliant young actress who strikes up an acquaintance with an intriguing stranger while on vacation in Greece, but it rapidly becomes apparent that his intentions are far from romantic.

The man is Becker (Alexander Skarsgård – True Blood), an Israeli intelligence officer, who entangles her in a complex and high stakes plot orchestrated by Spymaster, Kurtz (Michael Shannon – The Shape Of Water).

The series is based on a novel by John Le Carre (the same author as The Night Manager, and the same producers of that show are also involved in this), and all six episodes are directed by Chan-wook Park, the guy behind Oldboy (the brilliant 2003 original, not the terrible remake), The Handmaiden, and Stoker.

There is no set release date for the show as of yet, but we expect to set it this side of Christmas.
