More than 700 complaints about Longford contestant Maura Higgins repeatedly trying to kiss Tommy Fury on Love Island will not be investigated by British broadcasting watchdog Ofcom.
Maura has been praised widely for her no-nonsense style since she's entered the villa, but it's clear from the sheer amount of complaints that her antics aren't for everyone. According to the BBC, a total of 709 complaints were sent into Ofcom, many of which claimed that she had "sexually harassed" Tommy, as she repeatedly tried to kiss him while he moved his face away from hers. Ofcom said that the incident, which was broadcast on 14 June, didn't breach TV's "generally accepted standards". A spokeswoman said: "While we recognise that many viewers disapproved of a contestant's behaviour in this episode, we took into account the context in which it occurred, including the nature of Maura and Tommy's relationship, before and after." However, Ofcom have said that they are yet to decide whether they will investigate the treatment of contestant Lucie Donlan, following over 300 complaints earlier in the series. It has also been revealed that two couples will be evicted from the villa in Monday night's episode of Love Island, which airs at 9pm.
